The new Amazee – how are you adapting?
March 17, 2010
Finally, here it is: The new Amazee! In the end it had been a long night for our Tech team on Monday, but, eventually, the release was done. Yesterday when we came into the office the new Amazee was up and running. Now we are fixing some minor bugs and design flaws to make it perfect. For now, because there’s always a next release.
So, here’s what has changed compared to Amazee 2.0. First of all, the start page is all new. We have eliminated the daily project feed in exchange for ten prominently placed project features, stripped to the basics: project name, rating and category. Below this, you’ll see what Amazee users are saying about the platform.
In the right column you’ll find the good old latest news feature, which will now be updated weekly. Below that, you’ll find a selection of Amazee users – without these faces we would be nothing. Furthermore you can learn about upcoming events as well as our Customized Solutions and participate in polls!
For some additional eye candy we have changed the header as well as the footer and made the page more wide, to achieve a more modern look. But you won’t see any of that if you stay logged in on Amazee – we are now taking you straight to your overview page.
Note that we changed the name from dashboard to overview (just as we dropped project magazine for project home page). Here you find everything you need to be up-to-date with your favorite Social Collaboration platform: A short lifestream, an overview over your projects, inbox overview, your personalized events, the weekly poll, and, another novelty, recommended projects and Amazee members. To make your collaboration experience even sweeter!
The third big change we implemented is the project setup process. It looks quite different, but it basically works the same: You enter basic informations and upload a project picture or logo (remember, this is the face of your project, you want to make this look nice!), afterwards you’ll be directed to the page where you drag the elements (formerly widgets) from your right-hand side into the layout you chose.
This looks a bit different now and thus should be a bit easier. Also, you’re now able to fill in your content directly after arranging the element, that’s one step less in the setup process! And after you’ve started your project you’ll see that it looks a lot cleaner, due to our design changes.
In the backend, the Tech Team has been able to tighten some screws even further so that the site now runs considerably quicker. It was stunning even to us, we can’t decide what comes closer: Speedy Gonzalez or Roadrunner.
Have you seen the new Amazee already? Feel free to share your thoughts, love and criticism in the comments, and if you come across a bug, please take a second and drop us a few lines at support@amazee.com describing as detailed as possible what happened, including details on the browser you used. We always appreciate your input!
