Hot action in the UX Chuchi
July 31, 2009

Last night we had another UX Chuchi meeting in our secret underground Amazee office. UX stands for User Experience and Chuchi is Swiss German for kitchen. At the Chuchi meetings we like to hear about other people’s businesses and scrutinize the living daylights out of them. All of this of course goes down in very civilized and constructive ways. Yesterday it was our turn and Gregory presented the Amazee case. With about twenty people from the web scene present it sure was an intense evening. We heard a lot of things we knew we needed to change, but also received a lot of new input, which will certainly influence our future development processes. Thanks, everybody for attending and for your input!
The next Chuchi will be in Marketing and take place in Berne on August, 6th, starting at 7 p.m. at the Atizo office in Berne. Feel free to drop by!

Amazy trash can designs
July 30, 2009

No, we have not decided to branch out into another field of business. We just have found a twin company (by name, almost) on the Web. Amazy is operating from Germany and they sell wicked designs to pimp your trash can. The idea is pretty easy: Most outdoor trash cans which one keeps in one’s yard in Germany are one shape and either grey, brown or green. Not a pretty sight? Thanks to the guys at Amazy, you can add a little color to your junk. The price seems reasonable although we cannot comment on the quality of the product. Anyway. Designer trash can enhancements!

this wonderfully quiet, well equipped, real-Italian-coffee bar with perfectly working W-Lan named espresso Ambulanz. On Oranienburger Strasse 51 in Berlin. Thumbs up, good working atmosphere and worth a mention.

We’re happy to have the 5-time European Champion in Sport Stacking Elias Ramstein (who is Luci’s Cousin) in our office with us today. He’s here for a trial apprenticeship to learn about the web business.
Don’t miss to watch his skills in the video embedded below. Can’t believe your eyes? Well, watch again! No time lapse, it’s real!

Internet vs. Democracy
July 19, 2009
No one can read all the news that’s published every day, so why not set up your page to show you the stories that best represent your interests – Google News

This is how Cass Sunstein’s book Republic.com 2.0 starts. Google’s sales pitch stands for his declared fear: An inert people that avoids general interest intermediaries (like newspapers, magazines, broadcasters) and confines its daily news gathering to the “Daily Me”; the daily dose of personalized content, that excludes everything we do not want to see.
The confrontation with a wide range of topics and opinions however is important as it ensures against fragmentation and extremism – predictable outcomes of any situation in which like-minded people speak only with themselves (= echo chambers/information cocoons).
Sunstein’s book provides a good overview of the social function of general interest intermediaries and other prerequisites of a deliberative democracy. Unfortunately he misses to provide any proof that the rise of the Internet will lead to a society that ends up in cybercocoons (except for the fact that most bloggers are mostly linking to like-minded others). And that’s the thesis the book with the subtitle “Revenge of the blogs” is being sold on.
